We’ve been Green since 1965. Ken Worley started landscaping in 1965 part time and turned it into a full time career with the founding of Worley Landscaping & Garden Center. He instilled a love of the green industry in his son, Kris. Kris Worley started his green industry career at the early age of 5, picking up stones in his father’s garden center. He worked his way up the ranks through the years, learning more skills than rock picking. He joined the crew full time upon his graduation from Michigan State University in 1990 with a certificate in Horticulture and Landscape design. Ken has since retired and Kris continues the family legacy in the green industry as the owner of Worley Landscaping.

We at Worley Landscaping do custom landscape design. Whether for a do- it- yourself or for a project that we install. We take you through a step by step design process that ensures a design that you will be happy and proud of. First step is to make an appointment. One of our sales people will meet with you to see and to listen to what your needs are. A design is then created, sometimes right on the spot, but often we have to “go to the drawing board” to create a design. After the design is created, we present it to you and explain the design. We show pictures, explain the process and answer any questions you have. We will make changes if needed in order to make design something of your dreams.
Planting plants is more than just digging a hole, placing a plant in it and back filling with soil. Many plants require different techniques for planting. Our employees are trained in these techniques. We take care in making sure the holes are large enough. That each plant is fertilized, back filled with soil, watered, and tampered properly. Whether it’s one plant or a total landscape project, we will make sure you have a long-lasting landscape. Spring/fall cleanups: call us to clean up your yard and landscaping spring and/or fall.
Hardscape consists of non-living elements, such as patio, sidewalks and retaining walls. Patios and sidewalks can be constructed of many materials, such as concrete, clay/ concrete pavers, and natural stone. Retaining walls can also be constructed using man made or natural products. Hardscapes have been a large portion of our work load for the past 30 years. Each year during the winter months we attend classes, workshops, and tradeshows in order to learn about the latest products and installation techniques.
Water features cover a wide variety of choices. Anywhere from a small fountain such as a bubbling rock or vase, to a water garden complete with fish and plants. We have installed many sizes and varieties. Water movement is a very relaxing sound. People love to listen to that sound. Today’s water features are designed in order to let you enjoy that sound with very little maintenance required.
Outdoor lighting is a great way to enhance your landscapes appeal. Your landscape can still be seen after the sun sets. Lighting creates a different landscape view by lighting up areas that normally would be shaded. We typically use fixtures manufactured right here in Michigan.
Not with today’s technology. Most water features require little to no care!
The type of medium you use depends on the use and personal preference. We go over the pros and cons of each to help you decide which is best for your landscape.
Worley Landscaping has been around for over 50 years creating people's landscape dreams. We love what we do and would love to help you too.
The short answer is BOTH. Most of our work is residential. It’s what we like to focus on, but we do medium to small commercial work. I like to say we are big enough to do commercial but small enough to focus on residential.
We are always looking for hard-working individuals with a passion for landscaping. Apply today by filling out this form.
